Public Funds
During the COVID pandemic there was a shift that businesses didn’t experience in recent memory. Significant federal grants were available for businesses because of the devastating impacts of government closures on the economy. In Washington State several business grants programs are still available.
Industry Specific Grants
The federal government does offer a few very competitive and targeted grants to companies developing various targeted products (Value Added Producer Grants or different technology grants).
Watch Out for Scams
Unfortunately, most grants are for nonprofit organizations, not small businesses. BE VERY CAREFUL of advertisements promoting “free money for your business.” These ads can be very misleading, they often look like an official government website suggesting that you can receive a list of many grant sources for a fee of a few hundred dollars.
