Washington State Microenterprise Association (WSMA)

The Washington State Microenterprise Association builds the capacity of nonprofits that help companies with training, technical assistance and financing to strengthen Washington’s smallest businesses

About

The Washington State Microenterprise Association (WSMA) provides capacity building support, networking, training and technical assistance, grantmaking and resources to nonprofit Microenterprise Development Organizations (MDOs) in Washington State. These MDOs are regional leaders that assist the smallest businesses in the state (companies with 5 or fewer employees) with business training, technical assistance, microloans or support in accessing financing. Our partners focus on serving inspiring entrepreneurs who are often people with limited incomes, veterans, people with disabilities, rural and those who have been historically marginalized to help them earn more, innovate, grow, and contribute to Washington State’s economy.

WSMA strengthens the capacity and reach of Microenterprise Development Organizations  delivering entrepreneurial support services and financing to the smallest businesses in local communities thereby improving the entrepreneurs’ connections to the business resources they need.

Fostering connections among business development organizations, agencies and individuals dedicated to microenterprise development encourages leadership and amplifies the voice of microenterprise practitioners.  Microenterprise development is a viable community and economic development strategy where business support and access to financing increases jobs, grows businesses and strengthens local economies.
