Black Dot started in 2015 as a project from Hack the CD. The mission was to provide a safe space for entrepreneurs, creatives, technologists and community builders of the African diaspora to connect, build businesses and community. The first two years were spent at the iconic corner of 23rd and Union located in Seattle. In 2017 Black Dot was displaced due to the pending redevelopment of the Midtown Center and relocated to our interim location 16th and Jackson.
Black Dot 2.0 (the underground edition) is a bigger location and provides more resources than the previous space so the move ended up being for the best. Future plans for Black Dot include expanding and relocating to the former Fire Station 6 building on 23rd and Yesler where we can provide more resources and better facilities for our members and community.
We offer shared work, meeting, and event space, available on a month-to-month or per-event basis. Our space features creative communal areas, commercial-grade IT and business services, and organic refreshment options. Black Dot provides knowledge, technical training, professional development and a comprehensive launch curriculum for start-ups. We pride ourselves on curating a culturally resonant and inclusive environment.
